Sharesight Alternatives for Australian Investors (2026)
What Sharesight costs in 2026, what the alternatives offer, and when a free desktop app is enough to track your shares, ETFs and SMSF.
Sharesight is the best-known share portfolio tracker in Australia, and for good reason: it handles dividends, corporate actions and tax reports automatically. But its free plan stops at 10 holdings, and paid plans run from $108 to $588 a year. If that's more than you need, here are the alternatives.
I build Covely, one of the options below. It's a different kind of tool from Sharesight, and I've tried to be clear about where Sharesight is still the better choice. Prices are in Australian dollars, include GST, and were checked in October 2026.
What Sharesight costs in 2026
| Plan | Price (billed yearly) | Portfolios | Holdings | Tax reports |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1 | 10 | No |
| Basic | $9/month | 1 | 30 | Yes |
| Standard | $29/month | 4 | Unlimited | Yes |
| Premium | $49/month | 10 | Unlimited | Yes |
There's also a $59 Tax Pack for one portfolio, for the tax reports without a plan. Monthly billing costs more.

1. Navexa: the closest like-for-like alternative
Navexa is an Australian portfolio tracker built around tax reporting. Every plan has unlimited holdings, and each portfolio can represent a separate tax entity: an individual, joint holding, SMSF, trust or company. There's no free plan, just a 14-day trial.
- Plans: Basic $240/year (1 portfolio, tax reporting and an ATO MyTax report), Standard $300/year (3 portfolios, adds unrealised capital gains), Premium $480/year (10 portfolios, adds manual parcel selection).
- Best for: investors with more than 30 holdings who want Sharesight-style automatic tax reports, at a lower price for large portfolios.
2. Covely: free, private and part of your whole budget
Covely isn't a dedicated share tracker. It's a desktop personal finance app for Mac, Windows and Linux that includes investment tracking alongside your budget, bank accounts and property, all stored on your own computer.
- What it does: unlimited holdings across ASX, US and other markets in multiple currencies; buys, sells and dividends; optional share price updates; portfolio performance (ROI, IRR and time-weighted return); a capital gains estimate by financial year using first in, first out, with the 50% CGT discount; a dividend and interest income report; and, from version 1.6.9, multiple portfolios (PRO), so you can keep your own shares, a family trust and an SMSF apart.
- What it doesn't do: it doesn't import trades from your broker automatically, track franking credits, or apply share splits and other corporate actions for you. Its capital gains report is an estimate that applies the 50% discount; it doesn't yet apply the one-third discount for SMSFs automatically.
- Price: holdings, trades and dividends are tracked in the free version, with no holdings limit. The capital gains, performance and income reports, and creating extra portfolios, are in PRO, a one-time $9.90 licence.
- Best for: investors with a handful of ETFs and shares who want them in the same app as their budget and net worth, without a yearly fee.

3. A spreadsheet
Plenty of investors track a small portfolio in Excel or Google Sheets. Google Sheets can pull delayed share prices with its built-in GOOGLEFINANCE function. The catch is that working out cost base, parcels and the CGT discount correctly is fiddly, and errors are easy to miss at tax time.
Which should you choose?
- Up to 10 holdings and no tax reports needed: Sharesight's free plan.
- Lots of trades, franking credits and DRPs, and you want tax reports done for you: Sharesight's paid plans or Navexa.
- Several entities (you, a trust, an SMSF) on a budget: Navexa's per-entity portfolios, or Covely's multiple portfolios if you're happy to work out the tax yourself or with your accountant.
- A simple ETF portfolio, and you'd rather it stayed off the cloud: Covely.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free alternative to Sharesight?
Covely tracks unlimited holdings for free, along with your budget and net worth, and keeps the data on your computer. Its capital gains, performance and income reports need the one-time $9.90 PRO licence. Sharesight's own free plan covers up to 10 holdings.
What is the cheapest Sharesight alternative with tax reports?
Navexa starts at $240 a year with unlimited holdings and an ATO MyTax report. Sharesight's Basic plan is cheaper at $108 a year but is limited to 30 holdings.
Can I track an SMSF and a family trust separately?
Yes. Navexa treats each portfolio as a tax entity. Sharesight's Standard and Premium plans allow 4 and 10 portfolios. Covely (from version 1.6.9, with PRO) lets you group accounts into a separate portfolio for each entity.
Does Covely handle franking credits?
Not yet. Covely records dividends and reports investment income, but it doesn't calculate franking credits. Check your dividend statements or ask your tax agent.
